This is reflective of the progressive and alternative metal genre. These eyes are common throughout the rest of tools work, and so the band is establishing a brand image with the use of these eyes. The cover art and other images in the liner notes can be set behind the lenticular lens to create an effect of sequential animation, and this clearly communicates the idea of uncertainty and mysteriousness around the album. Another thing that conotes the idea that the album is heavy or dark is the fact that there are pictures of eyes all around the back that seem to be desperately searching for something. Clearly this album is not light, and this is shown through the dark colours and imagery on the front. One thing that it does do is conote the idea that the songs might be dark and heavy. It does not give away a lot about the contents of the CD or the main themes of the album. The front of the digipack is extremely dark and mysterious.
